Leadville Boom Days 2000 documented and preserved for future generations by the U.S. Library of Congress

U.S. Library of Congress BicentennialColorado Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell selected Leadville Boom Days as one of the aspects of Colorado's cultural heritage to represent the state in the national Local Legacies project of the Library of Congress Bicentennial Celebration.

The Local Legacies project was designed to document and pay tribute to the nation's rich cultural heritage, and to ensure that future genrations would have access to important cultural "snapshots" of American tradition, folklore and everyday life by fostering community projects that record and celebrate that heritage. To preserve this heritage the Local Legacies initiative assembled a selection of documentary material at the Library of Congress to share with all Americans. For more information, check out the Local Legacies section of the LOC's Bicentennial Web site at www.loc.gov/bicentennial/legacies.html, or call the Bicentennial Program Office at (202) 707-2000 or toll-free (800) 707-7145.
