Please accept this invitation to the 2013 Leadville Boom Days International Pack Burro Race on Sunday, August 4!
The Leadville Boom Days Committee, Leadville Elks Club, Rutkey Distributing, People's Bank, Climax Molybdenum and the Race Director, Dave TenEyck, are all pleased to be able to help make this race possible again this year. This will be the 65th running of the Leadville Burro Race so please plan on joining us. We are also proud to be the 2nd leg of Pack Burro Racing's Triple Crown!
We have been able to maintain the same prize awards again this year thanks to the Climax Molybdenum mine and People's Bank. Again for 2013 is a new prize of $400 for the open and women's course given to the most improved team from last years race time. So the team with the most time shaved from last years time wins $400!!!!. We hope you have been training!
Race Day Registration, weighing saddles and measuring lead ropes begins at 9AM and closes at 10:30AM on Harrison Avenue & 4th in front of the Western Hardware Building.
Parking for trailers is no longer allowed at People's Bank, please park across the street on 4th, ½ block east of Harrison Avenue. Look for signs!
The Open race begins at 11AM and the Women's race begins at 11:15 AM sharp in front of the Boom Days Announcing Stand on Harrison Avenue.
Saddles will be re-weighed at the end of the race. Those not meeting the 33 lb minimum and required equipment will be disqualified. We also encourage you to rig you pack to show the mining gear as this adds to the historic flavor of our sport.
If you are new to the sport and need help with anything, including burros, please call me with questions. (303) 437-9898 or email Dave Teneyck. Looking forward to seeing you in August!
