'Just for Fun' Events

Ever watch a "Mosey" contest?  Where couples dressed in 1880's style costumes do the 100 yard "Mosey" down the avenue?  Or an Outhouse race?  Or an 1880's costume contest?  How about a Celebrity Burro Race?  Or a summer parade with costumes and horses and old cars, while enjoying the large selection of great foods, crafts and souvenirs at the street fair?.

Informative Events

Check out the informative and entertaining slide show of the famous "Leadville Ice Palace", built of solid ice during the winter of 1895. This show is presented by Darlene Weir at The National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum on both Friday and Saturday during Boom Days. Don't miss the scale model replica of Leadville's Ice Palace on display on the second floor of the Heritage Museum.

Children's Events

For children ages 0 to 13 years, enjoy the "Infant Crawl" or the "Longest Baseball Throw". How about a pie-eating contest?.

Other Events

Besides the numerous races and contests mentioned on the other Boom Days Events pages, there are tons of things to see and do in the Leadville area. Hiking, bicycling, climbing, boating, river rafting, fishing, and much more.

New in Leadville is the 12 1/2 mile Mineral Belt Trail, a beautifully paved loop trail for walkers, joggers, and bicyclers. It winds from Leadville up through the historic Leadville Mining District. With absolutely stunning views, abundant visual mining history, and 700 feet of relief at 2 miles elevation above sea level, it is a wonderful exercise for those who are in shape. And short portions can be enjoyed from several access points.

The annual Leadville Softball Tournament is played during Boom Days at the Leiter Street and Harrison Avenue baseball fields. Games feature 20 to 24 Colorado softball teams, who compete from Friday through Sunday during Boom Days. Admission is free to the public.
